Membership

Obligations

Members are bound to record breeding pedigrees accurately and completely, and annually submit records to the SMBAWA via the Annual Return form.

Members selling stud rams, stud ewes and stud genetic material must be bred from registered ewes and by registered rams/semen.

Annual Fees

Yearly subscriptions are determined by the number of rams sold by the stud in the most recent annual return.

Subscription increases are affected by CPI.

Annual Return

Annual Returns are distributed in December each year. Forms must be returned to the SMBAWA office and accompanied by subscriptions before 28th February.

The Annual Return figures apply to STUD stock, not commercial flock sheep.

  1. Stud name, flock number, address details and notes are filled in by computer.
  2. Update address details, telephone, email and facsimile information if necessary.
  3. NUMBER OF EWES MATED FOR LAMBS SHOW BELOW - this figure can be less than total ewes and ewe lambs in the previous year’s summary of sheep but never more unless purchased and entered into areas 5 and 19.
  4. LAMBS BRED - (ram & ewe lambs) total bred/dropped for the year.
  5. SHEEP BOUGHT - entries here must be verified by Vendor’s and Purchaser’s Certificates (VP) and details recorded in area above for details of VP certificates.
  6. SHEEP SOLD (7) - stock sold for breeding purposes, including stock transferred to member’s own commercial flock. Do not include stock sold for slaughter, deaths or culls, or sheep already classed out of the stud.
  7. SEMEN BOUGHT - entries here must be verified by VP certificates and details recorded in area for VP certificates. Do not include semen collected from own stud rams. Purchases for the year must be included, irrelevant if the semen was used.
  8. SEMEN SOLD - doses of semen sold for breeding purposes. Do not include semen collected from own stud rams for use in either the stud or own commercial flock.
  9. SEMEN USED - actual semen doses used.
  10. EMBRYOS BOUGHT - entries here must be verified by VP and details recorded in area for VP certificates. Do not include embryos collected from own stud ewes. Purchases for the year must be included, irrelevant if the embryos were used.
  11. EMBRYOS SOLD - total number of embryos sold for breeding purposes. Do not include embryos collected from own stud ewes for use in own stud or commercial flock.
  12. EMBRYOS USED - actual embryos used.

SUMMARY OF SHEEP AT 31 DECEMBER (8):

  1. SIRES IN US E- number of sires used in natural stud mating.
  2. OTHER RAMS 1 YEAR AND OVER - unsold rams from prior year, rams being prepared for shows, stud reserves, rams purchased during the year etc.
  3. Ram lambs dropped minus deaths and/or culls by year end.
  4. EWES 1 YEAR AND OVER - stud ewe population minus deaths and/or culls.
  5. Ewe lambs dropped minus deaths and/or culls by year end.
  6. Total stud sheep population.
  7. ADDITIONS FROM OTHER FLOCKS FROM 1ST JANUARY TO 31ST DECEMBER:
    Record the breeding and sale information from VP Certificates and attach original certificate to Annual Return.
  8. ADDITIONS FROM OTHER FLOCKS BY FROZEN SEMEN, AI OR EMBRYO FROM 1ST JANUARY TO 31ST DECEMBER:
    Record the breeding and sale information from VP Certificates and attach original certificate to Annual Return.
  9. CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP OR HISTORY IF APPLICABLE:
    Any changes to be recorded in flock book and database, must be accompanied by a statutory declaration change of ownership/transfer form (obtained from the SMBAWA office).
  10. BREEDING OF RAMS USED (9):
    Insert the name of the stud - NOT BLOOD - which bred sires and the number of sires from each source. The total number must equal number of sires in use in area 13. Where artificial breeding has been used, record the stud breeding of the sire (not blood) and indicate (AI) after the source. If sires used are own stud’s progeny then record own stud name under this section.
  11. Subscriptions to be paid before 28 February. Annual Returns received after this date will incur an added penalty of $55. Attach payment of fees with Annual Return.
  12. Sign & Date.
