The Stud Merino Breeders Association of WA (SMBAWA) has funding available for projects and events aimed at promoting the Merino sheep industry in Western Australia.
The outstanding success of the 7th World Merino Conference in 2006 hosted by the SMBAWA has paved the way for financial sponsorship to be available to regional and metropolitan groups, committees and other organisations endeavouring to boost the profile of the West Australian Merino industry.
It is anticipated that the funds will be used to:
- assist in growing the number of commercial Merino breeders,
- attracting young producers to the industry,
- aid in providing relevant and timely information,
- help maintain market share of the Merino breed.
Organisations planning a project or event that fulfills the above criteria are invited to contact the SMBAWA Executive Officer for further details or refer to the FORMS section in this website for an application.
The next closing date for funding applications is Friday, 11 October 2013.
The SMBAWA sponsors the Merino competitions at the Perth Royal Show, Wagin Woolorama, Katanning Stud Merino Show & Sale, Williams Gateway Expo, as well as ewe hogget competitions, junior judging events, and student scholarships in WA Agricultural Colleges.
